To counter the nostalgia induced by the Playhouse hokiness, I also caught “The Secretaries” at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, an 11-year-old group that aptly asks the question, W.H.A.T.? but answers, Why not?
That the company has served up such fare and survived for more than a decade is testament enough to the strange fish floating happily in the Cape’s otherwise stock soup. But “The Secretaries” – a hit last season at the New York Theater Workshop – was also delicious, every bit as raunchy and outrageous as the New York version. Who would have guessed?
