The 1995 Lucille Lortel Awards for outstandingachievement Off Broadway were announced April 17. The awards, now in their ninth year, are sponsored by the League of Off Broadway Theaters and Producers. The winners were:

Musical, “Jelly Roll!” by Vernel Bagneris.

Revival, “Merrily We Roll Along,” by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth, revived by the York Theater Company.

Direction, Jack O’Brien, “Hapgood.”

Performance by an actor, Ed Harris, “Simpatico.”

Performance by an actress, (tie) Eileen Atkins, “Vita & Virginia”; and Linda Lavin, “Death Defying Acts.”

Set design, James Leonard Joy, “Camping With Henry and Tom.”

Lighting design, Phil Monat, “Camping With Henry and Tom.”

Costume design, Judy Dolan, “The Petrified Prince.”

Body of work (individual), Horton Foote.

Body of work (company): Signature Theater Company.

Lifetime achievement: Uta Hagen.

Special award: Encore! Great American Musicals in Concert, produced by City Center.
