Helmer Eric Schaeffer (“My Life’s in Turnaround”) has signed to direct Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker in “If Lucy Fell” for Motion Picture Corp. of America, producer Brad Krevoy confirmed.

“Lucy” is a post-Generation X look at relationships, with Stiller and Parker set to play two New York friends who make an unusual pact about falling in love.

Sources close to the project said model/actress Elle Macpherson (“Sirens”) is close to signing to co-star.

Schaeffer also will appear in the film, for which he wrote the screenplay. “Lucy” will be his second pic after last spring’s critically praised “Turnaround.”

“Lucy,” budgeted at just under $5 million, will shoot on location on the East Coast through February and March.

A team of agents from Creative Artists Agency brokered the deal. MPCA, whose deal with Columbia Pictures recently lapsed, is shopping for another production pact. The indie currently is producing “Kingpin” for MGM and Rysher Entertainment.
