Michelle Pfeiffer and longtime partner Kate Guinzburg have moved their Via Rosa Prods, to the Walt Disney Co. from Sony Pictures Entertainment in a two-year, first-look deal.
Pfeiffer’s company is the third to leave the Sony lot and is not expected to be the last.
The studio is said to be taking a hard look at all deals on the lot. Via Rosa Prods, had been at Columbia Pictures for the past two years.
The move came as a result of the actress’s work on Touchstone Pictures’ “Up Close and Personal,” which also stars Robert Redford.
Touchstone president Donald Deline was the point person in making the deal. Pfeiffer also starred in Hollywood Pictures and Simpson/Bruckheimer’s “Dangerous Minds.”
Touchstone Pictures recently acquired a spec for the company. Touchstone picked up the Robert Roy Pool spec “Vanished” for her to produce and star as an attorney who finds herself and her client embroiled in a conspiracy.
Others landing at Disney in recent weeks include Sean Connery and Barry Sonnenfeld.
