MacLaine set for ‘Evening Star’

Shirley MacLaine will reprise her Oscar-winning “Terms of Endearment” role of Aurora Greenaway in the film’s sequel “The Evening Star,” sources said.

Robert Harling, who scripted the sequel to the 1983 hit, will direct for producers Polly Platt and David Kirkpatrick with Rysher Entertainment producing and financing and Paramount Pictures distributing.

Juliette Lewis also has been set as Aurora’s granddaughter Melanie, and conversations are taking place for Jack Nicholson to make his return as the former astronaut, Garrett Breedlove, whose mischievousness won Aurora’s heart.

The project marks the first film in a multipicture pact that Rysher has with the studio. Under the arrangement, Rysher will handle foreign sales.
