Paramount has acquired North American rights to Costa-Gavras’ upcoming genetics thriller “Experiment.”

The English-lingo pic is currently being cast. According to producer Alain Goldman, the film is budgeted at around $30 million, although that figure could rise depending on casting.

Financing for the pic comes primarily from French major Gaumont, which has a development and production deal with Goldman’s Legende production company.

“Experiment” is the first pic to come out of the deal, designed to give Gaumont access to international, English-lingo projects. Gaumont has world rights outside North America and Gaumont/BVI will distribute in France.

“Experiment” is an original screenplay from Roselyne Bosch.
