Columbia TriStar Home Video will back the homevid release of “The Indian in the Cupboard” with the studio’s most aggressive marketing campaign to date. The bow also kicks off its new family entertainment banner, dubbed the “Family Collection.”

CTHV will support the video’s release with a $10 million marketing campaign.

The tape, which will retail for $22.95, will be released Jan. 16 and targeted to kids ages 5-11.

” ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’ is family entertainment at its best and is the ideal title to launch our new Family Collection,” said Lon von Hurwitz, veep of marketing of CTHV.

The innovative vidcassette packaging will sport a clamshell housing that when folded forms a cupboard. A key and a toy replica of Little Bear, the pic’s title character, also will be provided.

Though “Indian” was released theatrically by Paramount, the two studios teamed up for the production of the film, and CTHV landed homevid rights.
