Michelle Byrd, program director for the Independent Features Project, has been upped to the new position of deputy director. In addition to programming special events and membership activites, she’ll now be involved in the IFP’s daily operations, long-term strategic planning and development of new programs.
The promotion follows recent words that two IFP staffers – market director Rachael Shapiro and corporate relations director Ken Tabachnick – will leave following the IFP’s 17th annual Independent Feature Film Market in October. Taachnick will complete a law degree, while Shapiro will pursue opportunties in the film industry.
Other recent changes at the IFP include hiring of Christie B. Thomas as associate market director, Aaron Levine as market head of production, Susan Michie as associate producer of the IFP’s Gotham Awards and Sharan Sklar as market coordinator.
