The sites to be razed include the wardrobe, makeup and fire department buildings, a long line of bungalows and star dressing rooms and the parking lot adjoining. The tenors open the second half of their concert with Paul Anka’s “My Way.” And Lalo Schifrin arranged a “Hollywood medley” for ’em to sing as well … Itzhak Perlman hosts the Tenors’ concert seen on PBS the next day, Sunday. WHYY-TV’s Willo Carey co-hosts … Joe Smith, who headed the Hollywood Bowl World Cup week of stars, brought Ginny Mancini to Thursday night’s Garth Brooks’ spectacular concert backed by the Hollywood symph of 85 baton’d by John Mauceri — he made the arrangements with Brooks via phone in Nashville — no opening act, no intermission, just solid Garth Brooks. Who needs more? … A new tune, “L.A. Queen of the U.S.A.” by Mason Mallory and arranged by Frank Comstock, was recorded by Horace Heidt Jr.’s big band … Ken Kragen has begun work for the Jan. 10 anni of “We Are the World”… Speaking earlier of Dodger Stadium, on Aug. 20 it will be the site again for the annual Hollywood Stars’ game, with Billy Crystal (at shortstop) captain’ing.
