Viacom takes ‘Drive’

Viacom Entertainment, which earlier this week unveiled the court series “I Accuse” for fall, Wednesday announced a second half-hour strip for September 1995.

“The Drive,” produced by London-based Focus Worldwide TV in association with producer Bob Altman’s production company, will focus on the “lives and loves” of South Beach, Fla., denizens.

The syndicator will distribute 65 episodes of the series, which is intended to reflect the “international cross-currents” of the Miami Beach neighborhood, said Michael Yudin, senior VP of co-productions and sponsored programming for Viacom.

Altman Intl. has an overall deal with the syndicator, which has beefed up its distribution activity under syndie prez Rick Jacobson.
