Hong Kong-based Star TV has lost its sales agent in Taiwan.
According to Satellite Television Marketing Inc., the parting is over failure by the two side to come to terms on various major changes over the last six months.
Other sources, however, say Satellite Television Marketing fell well short of sales targets.
The move follows by a day a change at the top of Star TV, with James F. Griffiths leaving to become a senior VP at Fox Inc. and being replaced by former British Sky Broadcasting exec Gary Davey (Daily Variety, Jan. 6).
A controlling share of Star TV was acquired five months ago by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.. Stargazers say the network, which beams free of charge to 39 countries, is losing $ 1 million a week.
