The 46th edition of the Prix Italia, the prestigious international television festival, will be held in Turin Sept. 14-25 at Fiat’s Lingotto factory, an architectural masterpiece dating from 1920 and recently transformed into a conference center.
Though the event was threatened with extinction by RAI budget cuts last year, it looks like Prix Italia will return to its traditional status as one of the year’s most important TV events with renewed support from RAI.
RAI management opted to ax the pubcaster’s support for the Umbriafiction fest rather than see an international institution like Prix Italia disappear.
Prix Italia, which first took place in 1948, now hosts 59 broadcasters from 35 countries. The Prix Italia is awarded by an international jury for the year’s best TV and radio programs in three categories: arts, documentary and drama.
