NEW YORK — NBC has pacted 10-year agreements allowing it to transmit programming into China, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other Asian countries via satellite, the web said Wednesday.
NBC will be able to transmit NBC News and NBC Entertainment broadcast programming, CNBC cable fare, and Euro television service NBC Super Channel into the new markets.
The agreement involves two transponders on the APSTAR-2 satellite, scheduled for launch in December.
In a separate development, international news service Newsvision, based in Sydney, Australia, increased the hours of NBC programming included in its program schedule. NBC’s programming now comprises about 50% of Newsvision’s broadcast day.
