NBC reorders ‘Law’ for a fifth season

NBC will bring back the Universal TV drama “Law & Order” next season, the show’s fifth.

The series, from producer Dick Wolf, is averaging an 11.3 rating/19 share in Nielsen season to date.

“Law” underwent several cast changes this year and is expected to experience more with the much-discussed departure of Michael Moriarty. Former “I’ll Fly Away” star Sam Waterston has been mentioned as a replacement for Moriarty, though as yet nothing has been confirmed.

NBC previously announced renewals of its entire Thursday comedy lineup and has stated its intent to continue “Homicide: Life on the Street.”
