HBO confirmed that Rutger Hauer and Miranda Richardson will star in “Fatherland,” the pay cable network’s latest original movie.

HBO has the domestic cable rights for the film budgeted at an estimated $ 7 million — while international rights stay with Mike Nichols/John Calley Prods.

Jerry Leider has signed on to exec produce pic with Christopher Menaul directing. Screenplay is by Ron Hutchinson and Stanley Weiser.

Shooting for the telefilm starts later this month in Prague. HBO Pictures senior vice president Robert Cooper said the film will debut on HBO in August.

“Fatherland” is an adaptation of the bestseller based on what Berlin might have looked like if Adolf Hitler had prevailed in World War II.

Cooper said HBO will detail four other film projects later this month. Already in the works is “Chico,” starring Raul Julia in title role about an environmentalist who fought to save the rain forest.
