FCC offers six cable seminars

The Federal Communications Commission Thursday unveiled plans for six regional seminars to educate consumers, state and local regulators about cable TV rereg.

The purpose of the seminars is to help consumers understand their rights under the 1992 Cable Act and to assist local government officials in filing the proper paperwork to ensure that cable TV rates are regulated.

Sandy Wilson, acting head of FCC Cable Services Bureau, called the seminars “just one part of our effort to reach out to local government officials and consumers.”

Seminars will be held Feb. 15-17 in San Francisco, Feb. 22-24 in Seattle, March 1-3 in Atlanta, March 8-10 in Boston, March 15-17 in Chicago and March 22- 24 in Kansas City. The events are free.
