CBS has confirmed plans to bring “Late Show With David Letterman” to Los Angeles the week of May 9-13, as reported (Daily Variety, Jan. 31).
The show will tape five episodes at CBS Television City, in a facility adjacent to the web’s West Coast headquarters.
The venue seats roughly 400 people, about the same as Letterman’s regular house in New York.
Not to be outdone, NBC announced that “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” will tape a week of shows in New York May 16-20. The network previously had confirmed general plans to go to New York during the May sweeps, with taping to take place in the studio that normally houses “Saturday Night Live.”
CBS anticipates a rush locally for Letterman tickets, which will be allocated based on postcard requests.
Tickets for “Tonight” in Gotham will be available through NBC in Burbank.
