Chargeurs buys 10% stake in cabler

French textiles and communications giant Chargeurs has taken a 10.3% stake in one of France’s leading cable operators, Lyonnaise Communications.

Chargeurs bought the stake from Gallic bank Credit Agricole. The group, headed by Jerome Seydoux, said the move marked an extension of its entertainment activities into the field of cable.

Seydoux and his team now have extensive investments throughout the film and TV industries. They include a share of BSkyB, ownership of British indie film distributor Guild, stakes in French production company Renn and leading indie distributor AMLF, ownership of the Pathe screen circuit, a share of Jake Eberts’ Allied Filmmakers and a partnership with Canal Plus in satellite broadcasting service Canalsatellite.
