As expected, there will be a break-up between Rupert Murdoch’s Star Television satellite service and the BBC’s World Service Television news programming — but that split is now likely to come in stages, local sources say.

Star’s current plan, they say, is initially to remove the BBC World Service from one of its two satellite beams, replacing it with a Mandarin-language pay TV channel aimed at the lucrative Taiwanese market.26
