NEW YORK — Shoe company Candie’s Inc. said Thursday its new spring TV commercial has been refused by local New York affiliates including WABC, WNBC , and FOX.

Candie’s said WCBS agreed to air the spot only after 9 p.m. A WCBS spokesman confirmed that the station had agreed to air the spot after 9 p.m., but declined further comment.

Candie’s said FOX had deemed the commercial “too sexual,” but spokesmen for FOX and the other networks were not immediately available.

Candie’s, a designer and marketer of footwear, said it feels the commercial is being viewed unjustly by the networks and said it will be looking into legal remedies.

The company said the 30-second spot features a woman dancing on a bed to the tune of “The Stroll.”
