MTA’s Kelly goes to Gersh

The Gersh Agency has signed up agent Maryann Kelly in a bid to strengthen its literary and talent arms.

Kelly, who reps the estates of John Steinbeck and Jim Thompson, was previously with Metropolitan Talent Agency and before that she was an attorney with Loeb & Loeb. She also worked at the William Morris Agency.

In her new position, Kelly will be working mainly with Gersh’s group of director clients while continuing to rep lit clients who made the move with her.

Among writing clients following Kelly to Gersh are Robert Newton (“Mercury Rising” for producer Jenny Lew Tugend) and Shirley Pierce, who is adapting the opera “Aida” for Disney’s feature animation arm.
