David Johnson

David Johnson, associate professor emeritus at the USC School of Cinema-Television, died Dec. 20 in Los Angeles.

He was 74.

Johnson was head of production at USC for 38 years. Included among his students were George Lucas and Bob Zemeckis.

He also served as head of the staff production unit at USC, which produced numerous educational, documentary and research films, including “The Face of Lincoln,” which won a best short subject Oscar.

Early in his career, he worked with Pat Dowling Prods. on industrial and commercial films.

Survivors include his wife, seven sons, a daughter and 12 grandchildren.

The family requests donations be made to the USC School of Cinema-Television, University Park, Los Angeles, 90089-2211.
