Roadshow Entertainment, the homevid, music and new media unit of the Village Roadshow group, is spreading its wings internationally.
Milt Barlow, formerly managing director of RE, was upped Monday to the new role of president/CEO with responsibility for worldwide operations.
His responsibilities include overseeing the growth of new divisions in Australia and New Zealand and expanding the company’s distribution, marketing and entertainment management operations overseas, according to RE chairman Robert Kirby.
Kirby announced the launch of Roadshow New Media to help introduce new software technology such as CD-ROM and CD-I in Australia.
RE intends to build on the worldwide success of “Nightmare, the Video Board Game,” which is licensed and managed by Roadshow in 17 countries and has sold more than 2 million units.
Kirby said RE would develop its relationship in the U.S. with Ingram Entertainment and plans to release a broad catalog of home entertainment software.
“Nightmare” will be released on CD-ROM and CD-I in the United States in July.
