It’s no longer a one-man team at Fox Sports, for Tuesday George J. Krieger was tapped executive vice president of the division, where he will report to prexy David Hill.

In his new position, Krieger will be responsible for supervision of all business, programming and marketing activity for Fox Sports.

Krieger is widely viewed in the TV industry as having strong marketing instincts as well as a solid background in managing sports programming. Prior to joining Fox Inc. last July, the new sports exec was prexy of CBS/Fox Video; and during his tenure there, the division launched a series of budget titles that featured Larry Bird, Earvin (Magic) Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abduhl-Jabbar and Julius (Dr. J) Erving. At CBS/Fox Krieger also masterminded the successful roll-out of Cher’s “CherFitness.”

The first order of business for the nascent division will undoubtedly be signing some on-air talent. The weblet recently ponied up $ 1.58 million dollars over four years for National Football Conference games. And although football may prove a loss leader for Fox, the games will provide a ratings boost to the weblet’s Sunday night lineup.
