Mark Harrington has been selected to drive CBS down the information superhighway. A veteran of the Eye web’s sports and news division, Harrington was named to the new slot of senior vice president, new media, CBS Inc.
Harrington will report to CBS/Broadcast Group president Howard Stringer, who made the announcement, which alluded to CBS pursuing alliances with media players ranging from software companies to telcos.
Harrington’s is the latest appointments in the ongoing management shakeup at CBS. Several key executives, including Peter Lund who was named CBS Network president last month, have been given promotion and expanded responsibilities.
Meanwhile, more changes are expected, including a promotion of CBS Entertainment No. 2 Peter Tortorici, who is expected to replace the division president Jeff Sagansky once the network’s schedule for the fall season is set. It’s still a question if Sagansky will stay on at the network.
