Fox Broadcasting Co. exec VP of marketing Tracy Dolgin will shift into an analogous, newly created position devoted to Fox Sports in the wake of the weblet’s NFL acquisition.

Fox had no comment regarding the switch, but sources say the search is already under way to find a replacement at Fox Broadcasting for Dolgin, who’s currently handling both chores.

In the new post he’ll oversee all advertising, publicity and promotion for Fox Sports, working with the fledgling division’s president, David Hill, and exec VP George Krieger.

Dolgin, who’s been at Fox since December 1992, was the architect of the promo-marketing campaign Fox used to help wow National Football League owners in snagging the NFC deal. Fox has also stressed its intent to tout the NFL year-round through various programming and marketing tie-ins.

Fox’s heads of advertising, publicity, media/affiliate promotion and corporate creative services have reported to Dolgin, who was previously senior VP-marketing at HBO Video in New York, where he worked from 1986 through April 1992. In the interim he helped launch the Advantedge, a syndicated advertising venture.
