John DeSimio was promoted Monday to senior veep for publicity and promotion at Castle Rock Entertainment.
DeSimio, who has been with the Rock since just after its 1987 inception, was formerly a veepeeof publicity for the powerhouse indie.
DeSimio said the move will allow him to expand his staff to handle an expected increased output from Castle Rock’s theatrical division. The company has announced a flurry of promotions and hirings in the last month, ever since Turner Broadcasting Systems finalized its purchase of the indie.
In six years at Castle Rock, DeSimio has plugged such pix as “When Harry Met Sally …,””City Slickers,””Misery,””Mr. Saturday Night,””Honeymoon in Vegas,””A Few Good Men” and “Malice.”
He is currently readying promotional campaigns for Castle Rock’s upcoming “City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold,””North,””Little Big League,””The Shawshank Redemption” and “Barcelona.”
DeSimio also oversees publicity for the Rock’s TV series, including “Seinfeld” and “The Second Half” on NBC and “Thea” on ABC.
Before joining Castle Rock, DeSimio was national publicity director at 20th Century Fox Film Corp. and a senior veepee at Mahoney/Wasserman Associates.
