Zoo’s Simon goes to Geffen

Music industry sales veteran Jayne Simon has joined Geffen Records as director of sales, jumping ship from Zoo Entertainment.

Simon’s duties will be to oversee the sales staffs of Geffen and DGC Records, coordinating activities with distributor Uni.

“It was emotionally hard to leave Zoo,” Simon said. “The opportunity to work with the roster of artists at Geffen (Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana) was just too appealing to resist.”

Simon was Zoo’s senior VP of marketing. She joined Lou Maglia’s team in 1991 as its VP of sales. Prior to a two-year stint as sales veep at Enigma Records, she spent 13 years at A&M Records, leaving the label as its national sales director in 1989.
