ABC will seek to expand its weekly “ABC in Concert” latenight franchise with an hourlong country-music version of the show that will be scheduled through the summer opposite “Saturday Night Live” at 11:30 p.m.

“ABC in Concert Country” will premiere June 4 and is scheduled to run through Sept. 10, though it could be extended indefinitely if successful. The Alphabet web scored solid numbers previously with a Saturday-night Fourth of July special primarily featuring country acts.

The show will be exec produced by David Saltz, who also handles those chores on “ABC in Concert,” which airs Fridays following “Nightline.” Billy Dean will be the host.

One advantage for the country hour is that “Saturday Night Live” will be in repeats during the summer. Fox Broadcasting Co. has also made some recent headway in weekend latenight with off-HBO airings of “Tales From the Crypt,” which has unearthed promising numbers its first two airings at 11 p.m. Saturday.
