‘Play’s the Thing’ starts with ‘Angels’

Annette Bening, Judith Ivey and Joe Mantegna will team up for L.A. Theatre Works’ production of Noel Coward’s “Fallen Angels,” when it is taped Feb. 9-11 at the Guest Quarters Suite Hotel in Santa Monica for radio airing.

The performance is part of the winter series of “The Play’s the Thing.”

Included in the season will be performances of Alan Ayckbourn’s “Man of the Moment” (Feb. 23-25), starring Rosalind Ayres, Martin Jarvis and Marsha Mason; Ariel Dorfman’s “Death and the Maiden” (March 9-11), starring John Mahoney and JoBeth Williams; Bruce J. Friedman’s “Steambath” (March 23-25), starring Jason Alexander, Edward Asner, Ed Begley Jr. and Hector Elizondo; A.R. Gurney’s “The Cocktail Hour” (April 6-8), starring Bruce Davison and Holland Taylor; and either John Guare’s “The House of Blue Leaves” starring Max Casella, Charles Durning and John Mahoney, or Jon Robin Baitz’s “Three Hotels,” starring Christine Lahti and Ron Rifkin.

One of those performances will be chosen for the April 20-22 slot. All plays are recorded live for future broadcast.
