UCLA mentors strictly straight A-list

The star-studded board of advisers to UCLA School of Film, Theater and TV Dean Gilbert Cates has approved a new professional mentors program that will team them individually with students for hands-on showbiz training.

The program will provide UCLA grad students with direct access to execs and stars from all parts of the entertainment world.

The advisory board includes Debbie Allen, Mark Canton, Warren Cowan, Samuel Goldwyn Jr., Fred Hayman, Warren Littlefield, Martha Luttrell, Ron Meyer, Cecilia deMille Presley, Leonard Rabinowitz, Jack Rapke, Dawn Steel, Paula Wagner, Denzel Washington and Bud Yorkin.

“I’m extremely pleased about the kickoff of this program,” said Cates in a statement. “Our students are very fortunate to have this opportunity to establish close professional relationships with the extraordinary individuals in this group.”

All graduating masters and Ph.D. students will be eligible for the program. Students will be chosen based on their academic and professional background, goals and ambitions. Students will be able to apply in September for a mentorship that will continue through spring of the following year.
