Turner Pictures Worldwide will handle international distrib for “Andre,” a feature in production about an orphaned baby seal, the company said Monday.
Robert Lazarus, senior VP/general manager for Turner Worldwide, said the pic would be offered at the American Film Market next week.
Story, set in the 1960s, is based on true yarn of a Maine family that saved the life of a baby seal, who annually swam 180 miles from his winter home to visit them.
The pic, shooting in Vancouver, stars Keith Carradine, 9-year-old Tina Majorino, Keith Szarabajka and Chelsea Field. George Miller helms from an original script by Dana Baratta. Exec producers are Peter Locke and Donald Kushner. Producers are Annette Handley and Adam Shapiro. Sue Baden-Powell co-produces.
“This film is exactly the kind of humorous and heartwarming story in which Turner Pictures Worldwide loves to be involved,” Lazarus said.
