Skouras gets distrib rights to Oz family pic ‘Brumby’

Skouras Pictures has acquired the Oz family film “The Silver Brumby” for domestic distribution in April.

It is Skouras’ first family title.

“Brumby” stars Caroline Goodall from “Schindler’s List” and Russell Crowe (the upcoming “The Quick and the Dead”). It is based on Australian author Elyne Mitchell’s popular series of children’s books about the Brumbies — wild mountain horses.

“Brumby” is produced by Melbourne-based Media World Features and partly funded by Australian Film Finance Corp. and Film Victoria. Media World is run by helmer/producer John Tatoulis with co-producer Colin South.

“It is very gratifying to have a film that the entire family will enjoy watching,” Skouras prexy and CEO Dimitri Skouras said Wednesday in a statement.
