Jean Doumanian Prods. has optioned Mimi Lavenda Latt’s legal thriller “Powers of Attorney” to develop into either a movie or miniseries. Doumanian produced “Manhattan Murder Mystery”as well as Woody Allen’s upcoming ABC vidpic “Don’t Drink the Water.” Latt’s second novel, “Pursuit of Justice,” will also be published by Simon & Schuster.

Group W Prods. has provided “Jones & Jury,” a new half-hour strip hosted by former NBC legal correspondent Star Jones, with a firm production commitment for a fall launch. Series has been cleared in more than 75% of the country, including 18 of the top 20 markets. Fox’s WNYW in New York, KCBS-TV locally and Tribune’s WGN in Chicago have licensed the series. Buena Vista TV has already provided a production commitment to the one-hour strip “Judge & Jury,” another hybrid court-talk show.

RHI Entertainment has concluded its deal for rights to produce an autobiography of gold medal-winning Olympic skater Oksana Baiul (Daily Variety, March 17). The telefilm is in development at CBS.

Mary Ann Zoellner has been named producer of Warner Bros. Domestic Television talker “Jenny Jones,” from associate producer. Karen Lautens and Brian Piotrowicz, previously researchers, were named associate producers.

NBC has obtained the rights to the two-month 1996 U.S. Summer Olympics trials to complement its coverage of the Atlanta Games that year. “I look at the trials not so much as a selection process for the U.S. Olympic team as a promotion for our Olympic coverage,” said NBC Sports president Dick Ebersol. NBC last year paid $ 456 million for the rights to the 1996 Olympics.

Anthony Munoz has signed on as an NFL analyst with Fox Sports. The former all-pro lineman played college ball at USC and his entire pro career with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Add 85-year-old Milton Berle to the star-workout video trend with “Milton Berle’s Low Impact/High Comedy Workout … For Seniors,” a co-production of 3 Ring Prods. and Mark Evan Prods. The video, to be produced in April and available this summer, will be written and directed by Gary Marks, a partner in 3 Ring with Seth Marsh and Allison Marsh. Producer Mark Evan Jacobs’ credits include the upcoming feature “White Man’s Burden.” The 45-minute Berle tape will include a workout as well as a cooking/nutrition segment.

NBC has won the Promotion Assn. of America’s Reggie Award for its marketing partnership with Kellogg Co., “Breakfast Around the World.” The award is given to the 10 best promo campaigns of the year, as voted by the org.

The Baseball Network, a joint venture of ABC and NBC, announced that it has signed Anheuser-Busch as a charter sponsor. In addition to advertising spots, AnheuserBusch will receive exclusive category rights to the trademarks and logos of Major League Baseball, and will be the exclusive beer and malt beverage sponsor to the network. The beer manufacturer will also obtain rights to conduct national baseball sweepstakes or contests. The Baseball Network will debut on July 12 on NBC and will air on both webs through October.
