Arnold Rifkin, William Morris’ senior veepee and worldwide head of the motion picture division, has joined the board of councilors at USC’s School of Cinema-Television.

The board advises the department in long-term goals, curriculum and fundraising.

The group has been actively seeking to create endowed chairs at the School of Cinema-Television departments and to increase the number of women and minorities in its student body.

Among those who already sit on the board are Marvin Davis, Marcy Carsey, Barry Diller, David Geffen, Alan Levine, George Lucas, Sidney Poitier, Barney Rosenzweig, Steven Spielberg, Brandon Tartikoff, Jim Wiatt, David Wolper and Robert Zemeckis. The board is chaired by Frank Price.

“As a member of the entertainment industry who frequently teaches at the university level, I have seen the many benefits of strong links between the professional and academic communities,” Rifkin said in a prepared release. “It serves us all to build the resources of schools like USC, and to make our business more accessible to the young creative minds such schools produce.”
