Ronni Chasen resigned Monday as senior VP of worldwide publicity at MGM/UA Distribution.
She will remain at the Santa Monica-based company through the middle of May as a consultant, and then will leave to pursue future plans, which have not been announced.
No replacement has been named yet.
Chasen joined MGM last year, closing her independent publicity company, Chasen & Co., at the behest of the late Bob Dingilian. She began work under the regime of former studio head Alan Ladd Jr., and stayed through the arrival of new MGM/UA chairman Frank Mancuso.
“Ronni is an exceptionally talented individual and has been a tremendous resource to me,” said MGM/UA exec VP of marketing Gerry Rich ina prepared statement.
“Since my commitments to MGM run through mid-May, I have the opportunity to design my next situation,” Chasen said in a statement. “Although a number of flattering offers have already presented themselves, I want to take a breath and carefully analyze all the possibilities before finalizing any future plans.”
In her career in independent publicity, Chasen handled such clients as the Zanuck Co., Morgan Creek, Lee Rich Prods. and several filmmakers.
