The Film Information Council has voted Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment its Excellence in Film Marketing Award for December for “Schindler’s List.”
This marks the second such award for the two marketing departments, which won in June for “Jurassic Park.”
The FIC noted the success of “Schindler’s” careful handling and the effectiveness of its platform release. Even though the film is playing in a limited number of theaters, it has a 60% awareness level among moviegoers.
Recent winners of the marketing award include Warner Bros.’ “The Fugitive” and Miramax’s “The Piano.”
The Film Information Council is a professional organization of marketing, public relations and promotion execs.
