The Samuel Goldwyn Co. reports that its “The Perez Family” has been an especially hot seller at the American Film Market.
Just a few days into the market, the pic has been snapped up for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Greece, Hong Kong, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and Turkey.
Goldwyn, which is fully financing the pic, has worldwide rights and will distribute it domestically.
Mira Nair will direct from Robin Swicord’s script, based on a novel by Christine Bell. “Perez,” starring Anjelica Huston, Alfred Molina and Marisa Tomei, is produced by Michael Nozik and Lydia Pilcher, with Julia Chasman as exec producer.
The bittersweet comedy is set in the Cuban-American community of Miami, with filming slated to roll next month in Florida and Puerto Rico.
