Sophia Loren will be honored with a Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement at the Berlin Intl. Film Festival in February. Additionally, the event will present a retrospective of the Oscar-winning actress’s work and a commemorative monograph. The actress was just accorded a similar honor at the Palm Springs Film Fest.
Fest director Moritz de Hadeln said, in addition to the justly earned tribute , Loren had special significance for the Berlinale for a career which has encompassed both Hollywood and European cinemas. Loren first attended the event in 1954 for the production of “Carosello Napoletano.”
The fest will include 13 U.S. indie features and docs, including Sundance entries “Floundering,””Go Fish” and “Grief.”
