Fox O&O KTTV has rejected a Spanish-language advertisement for the October Films release “Cronos.” Guillermo del Toro’s Spanish-language horror film opened March 30 on two screens in New York and is scheduled to open on 14 screens Friday in L.A.October, through media buyer Belmir Media Inc., sought a spot on last weekend’s broadcast of “Culture Clash.” An executive at the Los Angeles station declined to air the spot, telling Belmir chief financial officer Bob Keller that KTTV is an English-language station and does not accept spots in Spanish. “We’re floored by the whole thing,” October co-founder Jeff Lipsky said. “This is an affront to the Mexican-American community and to everyone’s First Amendment rights.” KRRT-TV, Fox’s affil in San Antonio, Texas, accepted the “Cronos” spots and is scheduled to air them this weekend.
