Field to helm pic for Savoy

Sally Field will step behind the camera and make her feature directing debut on Savoy Pictures’ “Garden of Palms,” sources said.

The $ 10 million-$ 15 million film, written by Carol Drechsler,is the story of a middle-aged woman who has to put her mother in a home and confront issues from their past.

Drechsler, a duPont Award winner, developed her original spec script at Spring Creek Prods. with the late Mark Rosenberg. Paula Weinstein, who ran Spring Creek with Rosenberg, her husband, is attached to produce “Garden.”

Sources said the film is due to go before the cameras toward the end of the year.

Drechsler also is writing a script for Barbra Streisand, “Kick.” She’s repped by Birdie Lifson-Pompan at Writers & Artists.
