Evered to script, helm ‘Drift’

Screenwriter Charles Evered has made a deal to script and direct a feature based on his play “Drift” for Mark Kaplan and Leanne Moore of LMK Prods. LMK will produce the $ 1.5 million feature in association with Centre Films.

Evered’s screenwriting credits include “Homespun,” which was developed by Permut Presentations and the Chesterfield Film Co., and “Asteroid Man,” in development at Amblin.

“Drift” marks his directorial debut. Written while Evered attended the Yale School of Drama and performed at the school, “Drift” is a love story between a homeless man hiding from the mob and a blind woman. It is set in Atlantic City.

Shooting will begin this fall. The deal was made by William Morris agents Mary Meagher and Alan Gasmer.
