Andrew Davis, one of Hollywood’s hottest helmers thanks to Oscar nominee “The Fugitive,” is putting out his producer shingle at the American Film Market hoping to sell foreign rights for his project “Steal Big, Steal Little.”
As part of his deal with Savoy Pictures, Davis owns foreign rights in all media for his next three pix for the indie.
Though “Steal Big, Steal Little” has no cast or script yet, Davis is hoping to draw some foreign interest, possibly even a pre-sale, at the AFM, which starts Thursday.
“All this is going to be about is meeting people and establishing relationships with people,” Davis said Wednesday. “I’m told that this (higher-profile pix) is what people want to get their hands on.”
Davis said he’s open to an overall foreign distrib deal with a studio, but might prefer selling the pic himself territory by territory because it would allow him more control.
“It would be nice to have a relationship with one distributor in each area,” he said.
Davis will be working the AFM crowd through his Chicago Pacific Entertainment and international rep Cathy Morgan.
The pic, budgeted at roughly $ 25 mil, is being written by Davis, Lee Blessing and Jeanne Blake. Comic plot involves two brothers and an inheritance. Savoy will distrib the pic domestically.
