Columbia Pictures confirmed Wednesday that studio veteran Michael Nathanson is ankling his post as corporate executive veep.
Reports of Nathanson’s exit to take a top job at New Regency Films first appeared two weeks ago (Daily Variety, Jan. 14).
During his tenure, Nathanson was involved in such pictures as “Flatliners, “”Awakenings” and “A League of Their Own.”
Columbia/TriStar Motion Picture Companies chairman Mark Canton threw a party for Nathanson at the close of business on Wednesday. Nathanson’s exit was negotiated with Sony Pix Entertainment motion picture group prez Jonathan Dolgen.
Nathanson’s exit comes amid reports that the studio plans another shuffle, which would involve a promotion for studio exec VP Sid Ganis and, possibly, prexy of production Lisa Henson.
