Rogers Communications Inc. said Pierre Juneau has agreed to act as trustee to hold and vote the shares of Maclean Hunter Ltd., to be acquired by Rogers under its offer to purchase all of Maclean Hunter’s outstanding shares. Juneau has formerly served as president and chief executive of Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and deputy minister of the Canadian government’s Dept. of Communications.

Time Warner Inc. and CanWest Global Communications Corp. — Canada’s biggest private TV broadcaster — are close to buying a 49% stake in Germany’s struggling Vox TV channel. Bertelsmann AG, the German media group that controls Vox, said only that it was in intensive negotiations with a group of investors. A Vox source said, “The decision about CanWest and Time Warner will be made next week at the earliest.” Start-up losses totaled 330 million German marks ($ 194 million) last year, exceeding initial forecasts by more than 50 million marks ($ 29.45 million). Vox expects to break even in 1997.
