Equity prexy Silver seeks second term

Actors Equity prexy Ron Silver has gotten a thumbs-up from the union’s nominating committee to run for a second three-year term.

The committee opted to back Silver along with a cattle call of other thesp officers for the upcoming vote.

Ballots will be mailed out April 28 and must be received back by the union June 3. Other officers nominated include Patrick Quinn for first veep, Richard Warren Pugh for second veep, Don Christy for third veep, Conrad Fowkes as secretary-treasurer, Arne Gundersen as eastern regional veep, Madeleine Fallon as central regional veep and Carol Swarbrick as western regional veep.

The committee nominated candidates for 19 more seats on the union’s governing council. In the eastern region, nominees for principal-five years included: Lynn Archer, Scott Barnes, Andre De Shields, Werner Klemperer; principal-two years: Julia Breanetta Simpson; principal-one year: Joe Zaloom; chorus-five years: Larry Hansen, Steve Steiner; stage manager-five years; Jeanne Fornadel, Marjorie Horne.

In the central region, Robert W. Behr was nominated as a principal-five years and Dan Frick for principal-three years.

In the western region, noms included Doug Carfrae for principal-five years; S. Marc Jordan for principal-four years; Zale Kessler and Vernon Willet for principal-three years; Jack Heller for principal-one year; Frank Stancati for chorus-five years; and Mary Michele Miner as stage manager-two years.

The following are running by duly signed independent petition. In the eastern region, Ted Thurston as principal-five years; Gene Morrill and Geraldine Kay as principal-two years; and Hal Blankenship and Chuck Patterson as principal-one year. In the western region, Steve Owsley and Jacque Lynn Colton as veep; and Justine Johnston and Ivy Bethune as principal-three years.
