A minority group suing Walt Disney Attractions claims the company has inadequate goals for hiring minority contractors and workers.
The Minority Coalition for Progress Now said in a federal lawsuit filed Friday that Disney doesn’t hire enough minority construction, supply and service businesses at Disney theme parks nationwide.
The lawsuit asks Disney to establish goals to hire 20% black-owned businesses , 10% Hispanic-owned businesses and 3% from other minorities.
Disney currently aims for 5% minority business contracts, said Minority Coalition lawyer Eric E. Vickers.
Walt Disney World senior VP Dianna Morgan said Disney’s minority business enterprise program has won praise from national, state and local minority groups.
