GOOD MORNING: While First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton was making the political rounds here in L.A., daughter Chelsea caught a little showbiz visiting the set of “Angie I Says” and meeting its star Geena Davis and director Martha Coolidge, supporters of the Clinton campaign. The Clintons stayed at the home of Linda and Harry Thomason during the brief L.A. visit, thus assuring that all remains solid between the Arkansans …”Ecstatic,” that’s how Ruth Pointer (Mrs. Michael Sayles) described her feelings after the early arrival Saturday of twins — son Conor , daughter Ali — at a Providence, R.I., hospital. Pointer, 47, the mother of three other children and twice a grandmother, conceived the twins via artificial insemination. The Sayles expect to be home in L.A. at month’s end. And the Pointer Sisters receive their Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame Star in October. It should make for a fine family portrait …”The Birth of a Parent” is the title of Connie Stevens’ upcoming homevideo series on the art of being a parent. Connie, long divorced from Eddie Fisher, has two children, Joely and Tricia Leigh. Stevens will star, direct and exec produce the cassettes for her Shane label. The successful Stevens is also celebrating her fourth anni on the Home Shopping Network with her Forever Spring Beauty System and has over a million clients! … Michael Jackson will be the youngest recipient of the Scopus Award from the American Friends of Hebrew University on Jan. 29 at the BevHilton. Jackson follows previous Scopus Laureates, Frank Sinatra, Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Merv Griffin, Aaron Spelling — and Elizabeth Taylor, who will , no doubt, be on hand … At the City of Hope’s National Biennial Convention, Richard S. Ziman announced $ 57 million had been raised in a two-year period for the 80-year-old City of Hope. Norm Crosby was toasted as the center’s National Ambassador of Goodwill .

“I’M BACK IN MOVIES ONCE AGAIN,” Kirk Douglas exuberantly told me from the warm Chatsworth location of “Greed.” No, he isn’t particularly looking for work, and allows he’ll return for another pic only “if something exciting (like this) comes up.” (Hopefully something for himself and son Michael –“who doesn’t want to work for a while”). Kirk was complimentary of the talents of Michael J. Fox, and reported young Fox had done a remarkable impression of Jimmy Durante on the set. Douglas was also impressed with the comedy of his son Eric, whom he caught at the Laugh Factory. (Eric was seen in “An Evening at the Improv” on A & E on the 16th … Steven Seagal and WB bought “A Call to Arms,” an original script by Dan York and Stanley White. Latter’s an L.A. County Sheriff’s homicide detective , York is a former U production VP and exec producer of “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.” Seagal plays a contemporary Texas Ranger on a Mexican mission to rescue a girl captured by cultists in “Call to Arms”… Producer Gene Gutowski took writer Lynda LaPlante to Russia so she could research the screenplay for his “Red Mercury.” She wanted firsthand info and got it riding with Moscow police. Later, Gutowski got the following receipt from the Moscow police: “For introducing Lynda LaPlante to a morgue, clinic and criminal pathologists; and for setting up meetings with pimps and prostitutes, a night patrol with the Moscow militia and a tour of Mafia haunts in the city. The sum of $ 500 as agreed. Received with thanks.” That’s showbiz … Another letter, this one from John Saxon: “I’m off to Moscow to work in a Western called ‘Jonathan of the Bears’ for (Italy’s) ViVa Cinematographica. It stars Franco Nero and I play — the lead heavy.”

TURNAROUND: Roseanne and Tom Arnold and Jim Belushi jetted back from the Chicago Planet Hollywood’s Sunday night preem to continue partying at Monday’s preem of Par’s “Coneheads” at Mann’s Chinese and the wacky doings following at the Hollywood Colonade. Dan Aykroyd got things off to a proper start, arriving on his Harley. He was joined by members of the cast including Jane Curtin, producer Lorne Michaels, director Steve Barron and — heads-up pals including “S.N.L.’s” Kevin Nealon and Chris Farley. Along Came Mary cooked up a cuisine catered to Coneheads, of course. And Kim Wilson (ex-lead singer of the Thunderbirds) and the All Star Blues Band played for ’em all … After an absence of seven years, the Israel Philharmonic orch, with conductor Zubin Mehta , returns here for three concerts, Aug. 23, 24, 25 at the Hollywood Bowl … Oscar show director Jeff Margolis, Michael Seligman and Steve Katz team to produce-direct “An Evening of Music, Mirth and Magic,” starring Nell Carter, Aug. 1 at the Wilshire Theater. It’s for the Temple Shalom for the Arts’ fundraiser benefiting the Ellen Radner Baron Memorial Breast Cancer Research Fellowship. … The Entertainment Industry’s Committee for Voters of Choice holds its Steinem Awards at the home of Marcia and Ken Ziffren on Thursday.
