Two mil for two from KCET

Two shows from pubcaster KCET have received a total of $ 2 million in grants.

“Storytime,” the station’s reading series, will air nationally over PBS next summer through a $ 1 million grant from Helen and Peter Bing, who provided a similar amount for the show’s first local season last year.

The original 20 local episodes will be matched by 20 new episodes, with PBS slated to distribute all 40 half-hours to public TV stations beginning next June.

The Hames Irvine Foundation, meanwhile, has provided $ 1 million for the station’s public service series “Life & Times.”
