The Reed Midem Organization has named CLT president Gaston Thorn its Mipcom Man of the Year.
The former prime minister of Luxembourg will receive the award Oct. 14 during the Mipcom international film and program market, held in Cannes Oct. 11-15.
Previous honorees include Canal Plus head Andre Rousselet, Ted Turner, Silvio Berlusconi and Roberto Marinho.
Commenting on the award, Reed Midem Organization president Xavier Roy said, “In the space of seven years, Gaston Thorn has made CLT the largest truly European media group.” Thorn was named CLT chairman in ’88.
Luxembourg-based CLT holds 47% of RTL 4, which currently has a 30% share of the Dutch TV audience, and a 25% stake in French weblet M6.
